JANESVILLE, WI – Right here in Janesville we are making a difference in the lives of the less fortunate children in our community. Maurer’s Market has launched its first donation drive for Toys for Tots since taking ownership of its second store location in August 2018. Shoppers can make $1, $5 and $10 cash donation at the check-out registers. A donation ‘train’ will then be posted on the store wall as a thank you to shoppers.

Sean Roberson, acting coordinator for the store and an enlisted member in the Marine Corp Reserves said, “We expect the need to be greater than ever, and we are asking for your help as a concerned community member and business leaders. The donations we raise here at the store will stay local to our community and that’s the biggest reason for our participation. Being part of the community remains our highest priority. I have seen personally how the funds stay local and make a real impact to friends in need.”

Toys for Tots is the Marine Corps’ premier community action program and an American tradition. Since 1947, the Toys for Tots message of hope for the future has motivated youngsters to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. Toys for Tots not only benefits children, but also has a positive impact on communities, on businesses – large and small, on the Marine Corps and on the nation.
Starting in November, Maurer’s Market will offer drop off bins for unwrapped toy donations. The bins will be located in the front of the store. Donating a Toy is one of the experiences that makes Marine Toys for Tots different from other programs. When you place a toy in a Marine Toys for Tots collection box you experience the joy of knowing that toy will be under the tree in a family's home and bring a smile to a less fortunate child Christmas morning.

Every donation matters when bringing Christmas joy to less fortunate children of Janesville.
